Field Guide

The purpose of the field guide is to ensure that an all-encompassing wildlife experience is offered to every Babanango Game Reserve guest with the focus on catering to the specific needs of each individual guest. Assisting with any conservation projects that are being undertaken on the reserve and being an active member of the reserve team

Previous experience working in a similar setting as Guide in a bush lodge is desirable. 

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE 
Grade 12 certificate 
4 x 4 Driving experience 
PDP Licence 
FGASA Level 1 Certificate 
Computer literate 
First Aid Level 1 
Tertiary qualifications are desirable 

This position will be based in Babanango Game Reserve and reports to the Head Guide. Management reserves the right to use additional/relevant information as criteria for shortlisting. Sales and Marketing Manager

This job requires a person who will effectively research and develop different marketing opportunities and plans for the Babanango Game Reserve. They will also have to implement new sales plans. Effectively managing the marketing department, the sales portfolio and external agencies would be key to the success of this position.

KEY OUTPUTS
 
– Forecast revenue stream of the various lodges through agreed sales plans.
– Identify new markets and business opportunities and increase sales
– Prepare an annual budget to meet marketing and sales financial goals
– Develop field sales action plans and advertising to accomplish marketing and sales goals
– Identify different consumer requirements to properly identify marketing opportunities
– Research and capitalize on different marketing opportunities to improve product marketability and profitability
– Anticipate new opportunities to maintain a relationship with important clients
– Gather, investigate and summarize data and trends to provide accurate information through reports
– Collaborate with other managers and key employees in various departments to achieve important goals
– Effectively manage external agencies in order to meet marketing and sales objectives
– Manage the retail portfolio and work closely with the Hospitality Manager to ensure that each lodge is marketed effectively.
– Reservation policies and procedures drafted and implemented
– Working closely with direct line manager in agreeing to corporate bookings and VIP guest rates.
– Maintain and review the reservations logbook and monitor daily arrivals, late cancellations and no-shows.
– Accomplish marketing and sales human resource goals through normal managerial duties, such as recruiting, training, scheduling, coaching and disciplining employees
 
KEY ATTRIBUTES AND COMPETENCIES
 
– Experience in a Lodge and or Big 5 environment
– The flexibility to travel nationally to secure sales for the Reserve
– Good interpersonal skills. Have the ability to problem-solve.
– Strong administrative skills and high levels of attention to detail 
– The ability to positively influence people and professionally represent the business
– Ability to work under pressure and manage stress
– The ability to sell, negotiate 
– Analyse information and make decisions.
 
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
 
– Bachelor’s Degree in Business and Marketing or related field
– Extensive experience and knowledge of the tourism industry
– Experience as a sales agent 
– Strong administrative skills
– 5-7 years’ experience at a managerial level would be advantageous
– Professional demeanour 
– Selling, negotiating and influencing analysis and decision-making, and management skills.

This position will be based at 2 Fraserwood Park: Assagay Hillcrest and report directly to the Chief Operating Officer. Management reserves the right to use additional/relevant information as criteria for shortlisting.
